UNITE HERE Local 2
Local 2 is a union of over 12,000 housekeepers, dishwashers, cooks, and others who fight to organize the unorganized and win good contracts in the hospitality industries of San Francisco and San Mateo County. Working with our union can be an incredibly rewarding way to help build a stronger labor movement.
See the website for more information and how to apply.
Organizers & union representatives
External and internal organizers develop leadership among rank and file members, organize the unorganized, and build a strong union based on membership involvement and participation.
Researchers support union campaigns through corporate analysis, political & community organizing, and other means.
Boycott Coordinators develop strategy to move customers from boycotted properties, work with worker committees and lead teams of volunteer activists to plan and carry out creative actions to help enforce boycotts.
Internship and training opportunities
Local 2’s Volunteer and training program is focused on building a progressive alliance of workers, students and community by teaching and inspiring them to fight for real solutions. We place a lot of emphasis on training and fieldwork.
